Ellie Kusner began her performing career at Boston Ballet. She quickly realized that pointe shoes were not her destiny, and went on to study modern dance at Barnard College. She has since enjoyed working with a wide array of choreographers including: Ellen Cornfield, Anne Zuerner, Stephen Pier, Nilas Martins, Mark Morris (at the Met Opera), and Pam Tanowitz—with whom she won a 2010 Bessie Award. Ellie holds an MSc in Dance Science from Trinity Laban, London UK. She teaches, researches, and writes about dance science and is the co-host of DanceWell Podcast, a resource dedicated to exploring 360 degrees of health an wellness for dancers. She teaches dance and Kinesiology at Hofstra University, and Pilates at The Juilliard School.
