OUR PROGRAMS

GALLIM Methods

GALLIM Methods is a movement technique training which practices Andrea Miller’s movement philosophy and creative methodology through a guided conversation between the body's network of systems and the imagination. Through a combination of guided improvisation and focused exercises, the class brings nuanced attention to regions of the body, its availability for movement, range, coordination, texture, and creative expression and its experience within space, time, and music.

Intensives

Comprehensive, one or two week immersions into technique, creative methodology, improvisation, and award winning repertory, led by GALLIM’s Artistic Director Andrea Miller and GALLIM artists. Participants engage with fellow creatives through movement and dialogue. Intensives also include specialized technique, professional development, and wellness-focused classes taught by guest artists in areas including performance studies, career management, injury prevention, clown, social and street dance, and acting, among others.

Experiences

Intense weekend long immersions into technique, creative methodology, improvisation, and award winning repertory, led by GALLIM’s Artistic Director Andrea Miller, GALLIM artists, and guest artists. Participants engage with fellow creatives through movement and dialogue. Experiences often hone in on specialized techniques & unique practices being developed by the foremost contemporary movement practitioners. Some examples of GALLIM Experiences include: Repertory, Creative Process, Performance Studies, and Partnering.

Process Immersion

Process Immersion is a deep dive into the creative process of a leading creative of our time. Led by world renowned choreographers and movement creatives, each immersion offers a new lens into how we might experience and participate as artists, collaborators, and generative beings in the creative process.

Dancing with the Camera

Dance film studies equip participants to create dance works outside the theater and in the digital arena, and provide the tools for artists to develop autonomous and self-sufficient professional practices in front of and behind the camera. Through technical film studies in pre and post production, camera work, editing, directing, movement workshops, and practice sessions, Dancing with the Camera supports the multi-faceted careers of movement artists in today’s dance landscape. Courses include Theory & Practice, Concept to Delivery, BUILD YOUR REEL, and Photographing Movement.

GALLIM Methods for TEENS

GALLIM Methods is a dance class developed by GALLIM’s Artistic Director and Choreographer Andrea Miller, originally taught to prepare the GALLIM company dancers to work in Miller’s signature contemporary movement approach. Dancers are led through a guided improvisation that engages the body and the imagination through movement that is wildly dynamic, physical, delicately nuanced, and individual. Classes improve creative fluency and personal expression, build mobility and strength, and attune body consciousness. Come prepared to move, sweat, express your unique self, and have fun dancing with peers from across NYC!

Jam & Toast
